Tuesdays Together – Summer Edition

Posted by Bob on July 23, 2010

It was (is) a hot day. More than 40 people came together from around Wheaton, like any other Tuesday to enjoy a meal and support each other and take part in an English class.

Welcoming neighbors at Tuesdays Together.

Ana started the mutual support circle by talking about evictions. Ana talked specifically about a lack of knowledge about renter’s rights and asked the group about finding ways the community can come together to support our neighbors facing eviction. Someone offered the idea of  holding a neighbor circle to talk about evictions. Rosa has followed up by speaking with property managers about the issue.

Maria shared her story about successfully applying for food stamps. She came in to the Neighborhood Service Center at Catholic Charities and worked with Rosa to apply and heard that she was accepted last week.
