Farmers Market: A ”berry” busy day!

Posted by soriasoria on July 6, 2010

Neighbor how much are the strawberries?

Its our second outreach at Farmers Market in Long Branch and we had over 30 one on ones this time. We had our own table and it was a great opportunity to invite our neighbors to our Tech Circle.

Had a very interesting conversation with Paola who was selling some products next to our tent and mentioned that this day was one of the busiest days she had ever seen. I think IMPACT is bringing good luck and at the same time new neighbors to the farmers market.

Great to see so many neighbors!

We met Luis Kenny a neighbor from Long Branch looking to volunteer his time with the community as an English teacher and guess what, we need one for our ESOL groups. One more connection made.  We mentioned how the ESOL classes in Essex House and Nob Hill are working and he felt so happy and proud of Impact’s work in the community.

We still remember Salomon’s story to open a small business and help his neighbors and guess what, you got it!                   ” THE CONNECTION WAS MADE” we found out Ezequiel from our Micro Business cohort that also wants to open a similar business to Salomon. We are working on getting them connected and make this happen.

Our friend Zoe at the violin!

Hope to see you at The Farmers Market next week and make does connections we neighbors need in the community!
