New ideas are bubbling up in Gaithersburg…

Last Thursday the Gaithersburg Neighbors for Neighbors met at the Neighborhood Service Center to continue working in our action teams.
In the jobs group, Orlando had a great idea for undocumented workers to have a support group. His 3 tips that have helped him were: work hard and don’t slack off, keep learning English, and keep learning new skills to improve your chances of getting a job!
In the healthcare group, Kathie, Judy, Maricar and Roberto worked together to get him a much needed doctor’s appointment at the Holy Cross Clinic. He had been having trouble getting an appointment so the group helped him set up an action plan and some accountability partners that he could call if something confusing happened so that they could call on his behalf to get an appointment sooner.
After the meeting, Samira needed support pumping up her car tires and Bill and I went with her to help. That’s just one example of what the group is all about, Neighbors helping Neighbors!
