Tuesdays Together / Martes Juntos: Stronger than ever!

Posted by soriasoria on March 3, 2010

The Tuesdays Together Family

If you would have asked me a year ago where I might be today, I might have said working, who would imagine I would be with the Neighbors Campaign in Wheaton.

And that’s what we do in Tuesdays Together, they ask me what do you do at work and I respond: change lives because by just listening to someone you never saw in your life and say I could help you or know someone that can, believe me you have changed there life and gave them HOPE to continue.

David you were GREAT!

Our friend David opened the night by welcoming everyone to our Tuesdays Together. He motivated everyone with his great ability to communicate and at the same time use sign language with our friend Lya.

You have to be there to experience the emotion and mutual support our Tuesdays Together bring to each of our participants.

Ronnie joined us again and impressed everyone with his introduction in español.

Carlos is looking for medical treatment for his daughter and Luis had some ideas and they are following up together this week.

We had a great circle of neighbors this week -- a few new friends and lots of old ones.

For example, Ana shared her struggles paying the rent. Rosa immediately offered to discuss the programs that might be available for her family. Rodrigo encouraged her to keep thinking positively and hope for the best.

Pablo reported during the introductions that he had found a job for this week (YAY!!!) and during mutual support time even found a few fellow painters that could help him with the project.

Alpha asked for two minutes and used them to encourage the parents in the circle to support their kids education. He recommended our friend Gavin as a math tutor — he helped Alpha last weekend to prepare for his math test.

Katherine from Study Circles found parents that are interested in the Parent Academy classes and a number from Lee Middle School where she is recruiting for a new Study Circle.

We had two Birthdays, one cake and many smiles. See you next Tuesday!
