Networking Building Tool – Leadership Teams

Posted by Neighborhood Opportunity Network on May 30, 2009

This past Thursday, over 100 people gathered to celebrate and recognize two teams of grass root leaders who each committed over 100 hours of personal  time in group sessions and working together in the community. Sixteen of these amazing folks came together around the future of rental housing in our community and ten were focused on how to build relationships between immigrant parents and public school teachers, all towards closing the continued achievement gap. We salute these new leaders and hold them out as role models for the thousands of other Montgomery County residents  currently isolated from civic life, but full of ideas and eager to get involved….if invited in and welcomed to our civic rooms.  See pictures below.

We were particularly pleased to welcome  some of our new friends from Gaithersburg who came to observe this special evening and are anxious to begin building a diverse network in their community, similar to our Silver Spring Network.  See George and Bruce talking about the evening and George’s hope for bringing the work to Gaithersburg.
