Young African American Men in Wheaton
Posted by frankieblackburn on May 10, 2009
Yesterday, Tim Warner and I served on a door knocking team in a large apartment complex near the intersection of Georgia Ave and Randolph Rd. Before we could knock on our first door, we ran into a group of five young African American men in their late teens and early twenties. One was tending to a little boy not more than 18 months old. For those of you who know Tim, you will get that he is extremely skilled at talking to anyone….but I can tell you how humbled I was to see how he engaged this particular group….a group that I could not have engaged in the same way as a 50 year old white woman. What we learned was not surprising, but nonetheless very disturbing. We need your help in responding to these young men – as soon as possible. They need us. We need them. Please take a moment to listen to Tim’s reflections.
