Door Knocking at Glenmont Forest Apartments
Posted by meganmoriarty on May 2, 2009
Sixteen neighbors knocked on over 250 doors over the past two days at the Glenmont Forest Apartments — right next to the Neighborhood Service Center at Catholic Charities. We invited residents to visit the Community Connectors there and to come to the Neighbors Exchange on May 11th. In fact, three of the Connectors joined us and set appointments for a number of residents to come and talk to them at the Center.
We met residents from: Iraq, Romania, Jamaica, Ethiopia, Somalia, Honduras, Mexico, Phillipines, Bangladesh, India, El Salvador…and one gentleman that helped construct these apartments in the 1950s! We also made some new friends that are ready to go out door knocking with us next weekend.
Ruth and Sara met a woman who told them: “my grandmother always said your closest family are your neighbors!”
The door knockers can describe what they experienced better than I can, so watch these videos.
